Amazon Web Services (AWS) is setting a new standard for enterprise AI with the launch of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a groundbreaking platform that transforms how organizations build and deploy autonomous AI agents.
Announced on July 16 at the AWS Summit in New York, AgentCore provides a complete set of enterprise-grade services that help developers securely deploy and operate AI agents at scale. The platform includes seven modular, composable services that work with any framework and model, whether hosted on Amazon Bedrock or elsewhere.
Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS VP for Agentic AI, explained that AI agents—autonomous software systems that leverage AI to reason, plan and adapt—will dramatically accelerate innovation and improve productivity across industries. "It's a tectonic change in a few dimensions," Sivasubramanian said. "It upends the way software is built. It also introduces a host of new challenges to deploying and operating it, and potentially most impactfully, it changes how software interacts with the world—and how we interact with software."
The technology reduces what previously took months of complicated technical work into a process that takes just hours, allowing businesses to build coordinated teams of AI assistants that can handle customer service, data analysis, and other complex tasks. Companies like Itaú Unibanco, Innovaccer, Boomi, Epsilon, and Box are already building with AgentCore.
At the same event, AWS unveiled AI Agents and Tools in AWS Marketplace, which allows customers to discover, buy, deploy, and manage AI agents and tools from leading providers. With this marketplace, customers have streamlined access to a one-stop shop for AI agent solutions, allowing them to fast-track AI initiatives and build faster with ready-to-integrate solutions. The marketplace hosts over 800 AI agents from various vendors, including Anthropic, IBM, Perplexity, and Accenture.
To further accelerate adoption, AWS plans to invest an additional $100 million in the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center to boost agentic AI development and deployment. AgentCore is available in preview in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Europe (Frankfurt) regions, and can be tried at no charge until September 16, 2025.
