Google Unleashes 30+ AI Tools for Classrooms Worldwide

Google has significantly expanded its AI presence in education with the rollout of more than 30 AI tools for educators through Google Classroom, available at no cost to all teachers with Google Workspace for Education accounts.

The new Gemini in Classroom suite serves as a central destination where educators can generate content and resources powered by Google's Gemini AI model. These tools help teachers streamline common tasks like creating lesson plans, generating vocabulary lists with definitions, and developing differentiated learning materials for students with varying needs.

"Gemini in Classroom saves me hours on planning and support, fostering a more inclusive and engaging classroom," said Mariam Fan, a language and robotics teacher who participated in early testing. Technology teacher Mike Amante described it as "the ultimate teaching assistant—always available, always helpful."

The current implementation allows educators to provide a target grade level and topic to receive a first draft of a lesson plan, which they can further refine with Gemini's assistance. The system also suggests relevant videos and can generate quizzes based on the lesson plan.

In the coming months, Google will launch teacher-led AI experiences for students that are grounded in classroom materials. These include Teacher-led NotebookLM, which will allow educators to select resources from their class to instantly create interactive study guides and podcast-style Audio Overviews for students. The Audio Overviews transform educational content into engaging discussions between two AI hosts who summarize material and make connections between topics.

Additionally, Teacher-led Gems will enable educators to create custom versions of Gemini that act as AI experts to help students who need extra support or want to explore topics more deeply. After uploading resources to inform the Gem, teachers can quickly create AI assistants tailored to specific learning objectives.

This expansion represents Google's strategic move to integrate AI across both student and educator workflows while prioritizing data protection and classroom manageability. The company has consulted with child safety and development experts to shape content policies and has implemented additional data protection measures for education users.
