S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) has taken a significant step toward transforming financial data accessibility with the launch of its AI-ready Metadata platform on the S&P Global Marketplace. Unveiled on July 17, 2025, the new offering enhances the modern discovery and search experience for customers navigating the increasingly AI-driven financial landscape.
The platform delivers machine-readable metadata products designed to ensure immediate accessibility and usability for both human analysts and AI systems. "The AI-Ready innovations we are delivering in 2025 mark a fundamental shift in how we serve our customers, showcasing S&P Global's commitment to transformative value that goes beyond traditional data delivery," said Saugata Saha, Chief Enterprise Data Officer of S&P Global and President of S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Offered under a complimentary license, the AI-ready metadata provides machine-readable context that significantly accelerates time-to-value for AI and analytics use cases. The initial release includes datasets from S&P Global Market Intelligence covering economic data, fundamentals, cross references, OTC derivatives, loan pricing, insurance, and textual information.
The platform is designed to be extensible and authentication-free, facilitating easy consumption by automated systems and agentic workloads. This vendor-neutral approach enhances machine readability at the column level for datasets delivered to customers' preferred cloud data providers, currently accessible via Snowflake with additional distribution channels in development.
This initiative represents S&P Global's adaptation to evolving market dynamics where value increasingly derives not just from data provision but from making that data immediately actionable. By embedding rich context directly within their datasets, S&P Global is positioning itself as more than a data vendor—becoming an enabler of AI-driven insights aligned with the financial industry's accelerating transformation toward automated analytics and decision-making processes.
The move comes amid other AI initiatives from S&P Global, including a recent collaboration with Anthropic to integrate financial data into Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, allowing financial professionals to access datasets through natural language queries.
