Trump Unveils $92 Billion AI Hub to Transform Pennsylvania

President Donald Trump announced over $92 billion in private investments to establish Pennsylvania as a major artificial intelligence hub during a summit at Carnegie Mellon University on July 15, 2025. The initiative brings together tech giants, energy companies, and financial institutions to create infrastructure supporting AI development, with investments in data centers, power generation, and workforce training. This massive investment follows Trump's earlier $500 billion Stargate AI infrastructure project launched in January with OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle.
Trump Unveils $92 Billion AI Hub to Transform Pennsylvania

President Donald Trump unveiled a landmark $92 billion investment package aimed at transforming Pennsylvania into a powerhouse for artificial intelligence development during the inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit held at Carnegie Mellon University on July 15.

The announcement, made alongside Senator Dave McCormick and industry leaders, represents one of the largest regional technology investments in U.S. history. The initiative brings together major players across technology, energy, and finance sectors to build the infrastructure necessary to support advanced AI systems.

"We're back in Pittsburgh to announce the largest package of investments in the history of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," Trump declared at the summit. The investment aims to leverage Pennsylvania's abundant natural gas resources, research universities, and strategic location to create a competitive advantage in the global AI race.

Blackstone is committing $25 billion for data center and energy infrastructure in northeast Pennsylvania, while other significant investments include PA Data Center Partners' $15 billion three-campus data center hub near Carlisle and PPL Corporation's $6.8 billion grid modernization project. Google has secured a 20-year hydropower deal with Brookfield, while Meta is providing $2.5 million to support rural Pennsylvania startups through Carnegie Mellon University.

The initiative also focuses on education and workforce development, with Anthropic contributing $1 million for cybersecurity education for middle and high school students and another $1 million for energy research at Carnegie Mellon. These investments are expected to create thousands of permanent jobs and tens of thousands of construction positions across the state.

This Pennsylvania AI hub builds upon Trump's Stargate project, a $500 billion AI infrastructure initiative announced in January 2025 in partnership with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison. Both initiatives reflect the administration's strategy to maintain U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence while addressing the massive energy requirements needed to power next-generation AI systems.
